Sean McVay didn’t need anyone reminding him what went wrong Monday night against Buffalo. You could hear the disappointment in his voice.
And earlier this week, he said something that might define the Rams’ season.
“Talk is cheap.”
After another heartbreaking overtime loss, McVay promised to evaluate everything. His third-down decision, the kicking game, the penalties. All of it.
But at some point, those evaluations have to become solutions.
Sunday against Arizona, the Rams (2–3) face a Cardinals team (1–4) fighting to save its own season. Neither team can afford to treat this divisional matchup lightly.
Matthew Stafford has given everything trying to bring this team back. Puka Nacua and Davante Adams have made plays that should help win football games. Yet too often, the Rams find themselves fighting to overcome mistakes they could have avoided.
Now there’s a new kicker, a reshuffled offensive line and a defense looking for greater consistency.
McVay said confidence is earned through evidence.
He’s right.
And that evidence has to show up Sunday, not in another emotional postgame explanation, but through disciplined, complete football.
A win brings the Rams back to .500. A loss drops them to 2–4.
The Rams don’t need another inspirational explanation for losing. They need to win.
