Rams host ‘Setting the Standard’ BH Event

This February, the Los Angeles Rams are celebrating Black History Month through ‘Setting the Standard‘, a campaign honoring the Black excellence that has long defined Los Angeles and the Rams. Attached is a media alert with more information and below is the team’s main event for the month.
To reflect, celebrate and inspire the current generation, the team will host their third annual Earnel Durden Coaches Symposium. Hosted in the team’s locker room at SoFi Stadium for local high school tackle and flag football coaches, the event will feature a panel with Black coaches from the Rams staff including Running Backs Coach RON GOULD, Senior Defensive Assistant JIMMY LAKE and Inside Linebackers Coach GREG WILLIAMS. Coaches will discuss the progression of African American coaches, cultivating team culture and how to advance to the next level with special remarks from EARNEL DURDEN. The panel will be moderated by Rams Vice President of Communications ARTIS TWYMAN.
Earnel Durden attended Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles and upon his graduation, Durden became the first Black student-athlete to attend Oregon State and went on to become the first Black assistant coach at UCLA and the Los Angeles Rams (1971-72).
Collegiate level coaches and administrators including former UCLA Bruins Head Coach DeSHAUN FOSTER, Oregon State University Wide Receivers Coach JAMES FINLEY, Sacramento State Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach ERIC SCOTT, USC Assistant Athletic Director for Major Gifts RASHAAD MOORE and Director of Partnerships at the Center for Healing and Justice Through Sports CHRIS REED will also will join the event to discuss their experiences, NIL, recruitment and more.
