Preview: LA Tech at ITA Southern Regionals

RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech Tennis team gets set for its biggest event of the fall season, taking part in the ITA Southern Regional Championship in Auburn, Alabama.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH
LA Tech is coming off a successful performance in its home event, the Red River Invitational, played in nearby Bossier City.  The Bulldogs claimed 18 total victories, including a 14-6 overall record in singles play.
 
Zoie Epps, Maria Tsironi, and Nina Skoric all went undefeated in singles, combining to go 8-0 at the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 positions, respectively.  Both Epps and Tsironi picked up three wins against McNeese State, Stephen F. Austin and Xavier (La.) while Skoric had straight-set victories versus McNeese and SFA.
 
Four other Bulldogs – Ana Rodrigues, Mio Kozaki, June Vigneron, and Soha Singh – each registered at least one victory.  Rodrigues, playing at the top spot, went 2-1 while Kozaki, playing at No. 4 and No. 5, went 2-1 as well.
 
Epps has had the most singles success so far this fall as the sophomore has gone 6-1 in the two tournaments played in.  Meanwhile, Rodrigues, Tsironi, and Skoric each have four victories this fall.
 
Rodrigues and Epps also teamed up to register two doubles wins at the Red River Invitational, defeating McNeese and SFA.  Rodrigues leads the way with fall with four doubles victories.
