It’s win or go home time in the prep football championship playoffs and three South Bay schools will keep dancing as Inglewood, Palos Verdes and Redondo were among the upset winners in CIF Southern Section competition on Nov. 7.
Inglewood, among the most dominant programs the past four seasons, is marred in one of its worst campaigns but it did not prevent the Sentinels from smashing Capistrano Valley 40-16 to advance in D3 play. Inglewood will not play host to Edison on Nov. 14.
Meanwhile, Redondo Union avenged a loss to league rival Torrance to claim a touchdown victory, 21-14 to earn a second round home game against St. Paul in D5.
Palos Verdes forced four second half turnovers against red hot Valencia and their Washington University bound running back Brian Bonner to hold on for a 42-34 upset win in D3.
Leuzinger continued its winning ways knocking off previously undefeated Crean Lutheran 34-17. The Olympians will play a home game against Chaparral High School.
Other South Bay area squads were not as fortunate as Calabasas defeated El Segundo in D7, Liberty eked out a win against West Torrance 42-35 in D10, and Mira Costa and Westchester all finished their season in defeat.
