Two years ago, Inglewood resident and La Tijera student-Anahnda Parker was a determined but struggling player, nearly quitting her 8th grade team. Today, as a sophomore, she’s making headlines for a very different reason.
Anahnda is a rising star and Varsity starter at Inglewood High School making waves in the local league. Coaches, teammates, and spectators alike all agree that her transformation exemplifies how dedication and commitment drive growth!
“She’s proof that hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard,” said Coach Eric Hayes, (who has helped develop Anahnda). He watched her evolve from a shy presence on the team to someone her team counts on. “She shows up every day and gives it her all. She asks if I can open the gym on weekends if we don’t have games. “She knows there’s room to grow and aims to improve.” Anahnda’s loyal to the grind. She’s a 4.0 student. The definition of a Scholar Athlete!”
Anahnda credits her turnaround to relentless practice and training, guidance from an older cousin—a current D2 college baller, and a mindset shift. “At first, I just wanted to not be the worst player on the court,” she said, smiling. “But once I started improving, I fell in love with the grind. I knew I wanted to do more than just play basketball. I knew I wanted to be a baller!”
What’s next for the young baller? Anahnda now plays AAU basketball with GBL Premiere 16U Nike EYBL-CL and is chasing a college scholarship. “This summer, I’m focused on training, growing, and getting ready to lead my high School team next year. It’s time to work!”
Anahnda’s journey shows what belief, hard work, and perseverance can achieve. We can’t wait.
