The United States begins their campaign at Los Angeles Stadium (SoFi Stadium) on June 12, 2026
with a total of eight matches in the region that will generate significant impact for Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (June 12, 2024) — Today, the Los Angeles region celebrates two years to go until the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) opens their FIFA World Cup 26™ at Los Angeles Stadium (SoFi Stadium) in Inglewood. Poised to be another pivotal moment for soccer in the United States, Los Angeles will be one of the primary host cities for the largest single-sport event in history with five Group Stage matches, two Round of 32 knockout matches, and one Quarterfinal in 2026.
“Los Angeles has set the stage for some of the greatest soccer moments that have taken place in North America and is home to a passionate fan base that stretches across every part of the region,” said Gregg Berhalter, Head Coach, United States Men’s National Team (USMNT). “I can’t think of a better place to welcome the world and kick off our FIFA World Cup 26 campaign on June 12, 2026 than at the state-of-the-art SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.”
Los Angeles is inseparable from the story of soccer in North America. LA has played host to the biggest sporting events in the world, including the 1994 FIFA World Cup™ and the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup™ which celebrate their 30th and 25th anniversaries respectively this summer. Already the most-watched competition on Earth, the FIFA World Cup™ will be the largest edition ever in 2026 and the Los Angeles region is ready to be center of the action for the entirety of the tournament.
