The Chargers are now 4-6 after a 23-20 loss to Green Bay on Sunday.

Date:

Here’s a recap of Week 11:

First Quarter
Derwin James, Jr., Keenan Allen and Sebastian Joseph-Day were the Chargers captains. The Bolts won the toss and elected to defer. The Chargers defense gave up some early yards but held firm at midfield when they stuffed and run on third-and-1 before a fourth-down pass was stopped short of the sticks. Joey Bosa was injured on the drive.
Justin Herbert and the offense started at the Green Bay 49-yard line but couldn’t move the chains as Herbert threw incomplete on fourth-and-4 at the 43. The Packers then went three-and-out as the Bolts took over at their own 14 after a punt. The Chargers advanced to midfield before Austin Ekeler ripped off a 37-yard run to get into the red zone. The Bolts couldn’t find the end zone, however, as they settled for a 25-yard field goal and led 3-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Second Quarter
Green Bay scored on a 32-yard run on the first play of the quarter to take a 7-3 lead. But the Bolts responded by marching to midfield before Herbert fired a third-down pass to Stone Smartt, who broke a tackle and raced 51 yards for his first-career touchdown.

Green Bay bounced back with a drive on the cusp of the red zone but a penalty and botched snap forced the Packers to try a 52-yard field goal, which was wide right. Leading 10-7, the Chargers offense couldn’t sustain a drive as they went three-and-out and saw center Will Clapp get helped off the field with an injury. Green Bay’s ensuing drive began on the 19 as the Packers efficiently moved down the field and into the red zone. But the Bolts defense held firm to force a field goal as the Packers evened the score at 10 just before halftime.
Third Quarter
The Bolts began with the ball and quickly got on the move, hitting plays of nine, 14 and 17 yards to open the drive. Herbert highlighted the drive with a 28-yard run to get the Chargers inside the 10-yard line but the drive stalled out and Dicker came on to hit another short field goal to give the Bolts a 13-10 lead.

Green Bay then drove past midfield and were nearly in field goal range, but a third-down sack from Khalil Mack erased the threat and forced the Packers to punt.

The Chargers went three-and-out and then saw their lead vanish as Green Bay went 70 yards in just five plays. The Bolts trailed 16-13 heading into the fourth quarter.

Fourth Quarter
Herbert opened the ensuing drive by hitting Allen for 38 yards. The quarterback then escaped pressure and found Donald Parham, Jr. for 21 yards before hitting Parham for 14 more yards. But the drive ended with no points as Ekeler lost a fumble inside the 5-yard line as the Packers recovered. The Bolts defense responded by forcing a Green Bay punt as the offense started at their own 37. Herbert hit Parham for 12 yards on third-and-8 before finding Allen for 17 yards later in the drive. He scrambled for nine yards for another first down and then picked up 11 yards to move the chains again. The Bolts soon faced third-and-9 at the 10, and Herbert’s brilliant drive was capped off with a touchdown pass to Allen to put the Chargers ahead with a 20-16 lead.

The Packers then took the ball on their own 25 with 5:24 left in the fourth quarter. Mack had a strip-sack that brought up third-and-20 but the Bolts were called for defensive pass interference to keep Green Bay’s drive alive. The Packers then hit a 35-yard pass to get into Chargers territory before Green Bay scored on a 23-yard touchdown.
The Chargers, down 23-20, took over at their own 25 with 2:33 left to play. But the offense went three-and-out after a dropped pass and a sack. The Chargers punted just after the 2-minute warning as Green Bay took over at its own 41 with 1:47 to go. The Packers ran twice to pick up four total yards as the Bolts called back-to-back timeouts. That brought up third-and-6 from the 45 as the Bolts stopped another short run and called a timeout to force a Packers punt.
Down 3, the offense took over at their own 20 with 1:27 left. A defensive pass interference gave the Chargers a first down at their own 26. But the Chargers couldn’t get into scoring range as they fell 23-20 and dropped to 4-6 on the season.
