It’s Time for 18th Annual Taste of Soul Family Festival!

The 18th Annual Taste of Soul Family Festival is finally here and offering the best of food, entertainment and shopping in the Southland.
The free daylong event – presented by Bakewell Media and the L.A. Sentinel – takes place on Saturday, October 21, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Crenshaw Blvd., between Stocker St. and Obama Blvd.
Over the years, hundreds of thousands of people attend the event that Danny J. Bakewell, Sr., TOS creator/founder, describes as “the biggest, baddest, boldest and brightest event our community has year in and year out!”
Explaining the significance of the free festival, Bakewell said, “Taste of Soul has come to define and demonstrate our unity in the Black community. On this day, we celebrate ourselves, our businesses, our people, our past and our future at the greatest Black block party in all of Los Angeles!”
The Taste of Soul experience includes three stages featuring top entertainers and recording artists – Bakewell Media “Music for the Soul” Soundstage presented by Chevrolet, Brenda Marsh-Mitchell Gospel Stage sponsored by City National Bank, and the KJLH Music Stage presented by Delete the Divide. Also, winners of the Starquest Singing Competition will perform.

Other highlights are the She Ready Comedy Lounge and Beer Garden hosted by Mothers In Action and Tiffany Haddish TOS Celebrity chair, and Children’s World sponsored by First 5, Lucas Museum and Santa Monica College featuring games and activities for young people.
Three hundred vendors will be on hand as well offering a range of cuisines, clothes and jewelry, health testing and screenings, and more. In addition, HPP Cares will have accessory dwelling units or ADUs open for tours by interested homeowners.

Free public parking and shuttles to Taste of Soul are available at Crenshaw High School, 5010 11th Ave in L.A.; and Dorsey High School, 3537 Farmdale Avenue in L.A.
