The game began with Xavier taking an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead by five points at 15-10. Southern Oregon struggled to find their rhythm initially, trailing further by halftime with a score of 32-22. Morgan Baird was instrumental in Southern Oregon’s comeback. Baird led all scorers with 23 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Her aggressive play in the paint and consistency at the foul line were pivotal in shifting the momentum. Bridgette McIntyre of Southern Oregon also contributed significantly with 14 points, including four three-pointers, providing the long-range threat that kept Xavier’s defense on their toes.

Xavier (La.) fought valiantly, with Patricia Sosa Lora achieving a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds, showcasing her dominance on the boards. Joy Campbell and Janiya Reed also added 11 points each, but Xavier’s struggles from beyond the arc (7.7%) and the free-throw line (63.6%) ultimately hampered their efforts.
