LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Two dozen Rite Aid stores across Southern California are set to close as a result of the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, according to court motions that received a judge’s approval on Tuesday.
The company plans to initially close 154 stores nationwide. This includes 31 stores across California, with 24 of those in Southern California.
A specific timeline for the closures was not given, but many stores have already closed while some will close in the coming weeks.
“We review every neighborhood to ensure our customers will have access to health services, be it at Rite Aid or a nearby pharmacy, and we work to seamlessly transfer their prescriptions so there is no disruption of services,” Rite Aid said in a statement.
