Laura Richardson’s campaign for State Senate is proud to announce the endorsement and support of two of California’s most powerful and influential elected officials. Both are dedicated public servants who have amassed an impressive list of accomplishments. Laura served with Congresswoman Waters and Mayor Bass in the US Congress and served and worked with both to deliver resources to our community as a member of the CA State Assembly. 
Congresswoman Maxine Waters, a respected and influential figure in California politics, emphasized Richardson’s readiness to take on the responsibilities of the State Senate. “Waters praised Richardson’s unwavering commitment to public service and her deep understanding of the issues facing the 35th Senate District. Laura Richardson has consistently demonstrated her ability to lead with integrity and passion. Her extensive experience and proven track record make her the ideal candidate to represent the 35th Senate District. I am confident that Laura will continue to fight for the values and needs of our community, and I am proud to endorse her candidacy,” Waters stated.

Laura Richardson won the March 5th Primary by over 3,246 votes, reflecting 6.4% more than her distant second place opponent. 
“The endorsements from Congresswoman Waters and Mayor Bass validate Laura Richardson’s record of hard work and commitment to the community stated campaign spokesman Mike Trujillo. Laura looks forward to delivering resources to the communities they will all share once elected.”
LAURA RICHARDSON’S ABBREVIATED BIO Richardson was born in Los Angeles to bi-racial parents and is a longtime resident of San Pedro. She was raised by a single mother after her parents divorced when she was two. Her mother was a member of the Teamsters and remains a retiree today. Laura graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and earned her MBA from the University of Southern California’s (USC) Marshall School of Business. Richardson has served this district as a Councilwoman, Assemblymember and Congresswoman. She is the only candidate prepared to lead on day one. Senate District 35 includes the Los Angeles County communities of Carson, Compton, Gardena, Harbor Gateway, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, San Pedro, Westchester, Wilmington, Westchester, and unincorporated communities of East and West Rancho Dominguez, Lennox, West Athens, Westmont, and Willowbrook.
