Virtually every major sporting event in Los Angeles over the last 20 years is due in some part to the efforts of Simon. Since creating the L.A. Sports Council 26 years ago, his organization has helped attract Super Bowl XXVII, the 1990 World Cup final and the 1999 Women’s World Cup final. Simon was instrumental in Los Angeles attracting the 1984 Olympic games and is largely responsible for sporting events with an economic impact on L.A. of more than $1 billion.
