There is only one week remaining before the November 5 General Election and in South Bay’s Inglewood California, the first Black woman City Council member Dionne Faulkis not leaving anything to chance.
After beginning her career as public servant as an appointee of former Supervisor Yvone Brathwaite Burke, Faulk methodically climbed the ladder to the post of District 4 Councilmember, but now she is met with the challenge of three candidates.
Two business owners Angelique Y. Johnson and Leslie Jones and one community organizer Carlos Zurita all qualified to oppose Faulk.

As Councilwoman, Faulk helped deliver sustainable jobs, affordable housing, a balanced budget, and made decisions that were responsive to the needs of Inglewood residents.
She has also been a tremendous ally to the Inglewood Unified School District, launching a fundraiser through her second annual Inglewood Music Festival at Darby Park.
Faulk has earned the powerful endorsement of Assembly member Tina McKinnor who has quietly evolved as one of California’s most prominent political stakeholders.
Also supporting Faulk is Los Angeles County 2nd District Supervisor Holly Mitchell and prominent Black newspaper, the Los Angeles Sentinel.
